Bloody Torchwood

Rhys hated Captain Jack Harkness sight unseen, starting the day Gwen met him, when she came home pissed, and passed out at the computer. Lied about who she'd been with. Easy to guess that meant she'd been with Harkness.

That was when the lies started.

Had Rhys been Gwen, he would have discussed the job offer before accepting it, raise or no raise. But he wouldn't lie to her, either.

Then Rhys got a good look at Harkness, and suddenly it was clear why she ran when he called. Smart bastard in a greatcoat. God's gift to Cardiff.

Bloody Torchwood.

Just the right tone of pissed off and subtly underscored humor, especially to those of us who see from the outside as opposed to being within. Very nicely done ^_^

And, yes, I still haven't gotten that Rhys piece done. I will, eventually, I'm just trying to sort out how I'd like to do it, since I don't think I'm tying it in with the flashfic challenge.

There aren't enough Bitter!Rhys stories out there. And I can definitely see him harbouring a smouldering, yet barely expressed, grudge like that - we only see the Clueless!Rhys, Confused!Rhys or Angry!Rhys on the show.

Thanks so much for the kind words. I always enjoy looking at the world - and the Torchwood characters - through Rhys's eyes.

I'm just trying to sort out how I'd like to do it, since I don't think I'm tying it in with the flashfic challenge.

I think Rhys is all those things - clueless, confused, angry. We also see him conciliatory and amused, and I like to think there's a lot of thought there, under the surface, that we really don't get to see because he isn't one of the main characters. So I try to present some of that.
