the movie is difficult to pin down for a description.
I'd just call it fantasy and not try to be more specific.
While watching, I did flinch a little at the three witches and their spells for immortal youth, and the way each use of magic made a sign of age pop up - and I was laughing loudly, because it was even funnier because it was self-reflexive - yes, I am an aging woman with occasional problems about it. (And this was one of numerous signs, I thought, that the story was written by men. Women surely would not be so cruelly callous on that subject.)
The seven murdering sons, I thought a rather good play on various fairy tale themes, but you're right, this isn't a story that would appeal to the more sensitive Christian types. If only because Tristran doesn't triumph through courage or virture, just by... what, luck? Having a good heart, too, I suppose.
Though generally speaking, the bad people have awful fates and the good people prosper, so I'd say it can't be too immoral.
