fajrdrako: ([Blackpool] - Carlisle)

I sat down this morning to watch the sixth and final episode of Blackpool and discovered that I don't have it. I had episodes 1 to 5. Episode 6 was another copy of episode 5.

Aaargh.

I love you for coming to my rescue - ! Thank you, but I think I have solved the problem. So to speak. Burning a copy as we speak.

Thank you! Now, of course, having had a visit from Squeaker and her family, I am about to dash off to the cinema to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix properly on a big screen (hopefully with a middle and an end as well as a beginning), so there's no time to watch episode 6 today.

And I'm dying of suspense here!

I love this show. I love the goofy songs (and what they do with the voices), I love the oscillating ambiguities of Ripley and Carlisle (though I have my preferences!). I'm almost sorry to see the last episode and then it will All Be Over.

My only objection: I'd like to see more onscreen time for Carlisle.

AAh. Enjoy the watching :) this time.

One of my online friends has developed an unexpected crush on Tonks. It's very amusing to observe, in a way. (Well... at least according to his family it may be a relief from his obsession with David Tennant. Which is, I must admit, also very amusing to watch ;) And unlikely to end so soon.)

Of course we have our preference!! But I love the fact that Ripley is not all-black; and Carlisle is not all-white. (bullying witnesses? GAAAH!!!)

Overall, Blackpool was a great surprise for me, much, much better than I expected. And by the end of the fourth episode, I was eager to just watch on, to learn WTH happens next...

Oh yes. More onscreen time for him would be nice. That would be lovely.
Then again, DT gets a HUGE chunk of onscreen time in DW... and I still would love more ;)

Thank you. I did. Very much so.

LOL - I can understand that. I like her style.

Huh? Perfectly normal, my dear. All the best people have an obsession with David Tennant. You, me, Captain Jack...

Or worse, trying to force them to lie. But then, I was appalled from the beginning that he slept with Natalie without telling her who he was. That was bound to go badly! So while at first I was inclined to think that he went bad in his frustration over the case and was mildly unhinged by his passion for Natalie, I thought there were plenty of clues that this was his normal means of operation, lying to get what he wants. Now, I may hate lying and liars, but I also have a fair number of heroes who lie and fabricate and prevaricate all the time - Captain Jack could be counted as one of them! and Gwen Cooper too). Plotwise, it's fascinating.

Makes me want to consider doing fanfic to explain or reconcile this.

Or not.

Blackpool was a great surprise for me, much, much better than I expected

I agree! Not really characters I could love - well, I loved Carlisle but I never trusted him - but fascinating and well written, except for the qualms I've expressed - I certainly kept wanting to know what comes next, and best of all, I couldn't guess. I had no clue whether Natalie would have ended up with Carlisle or Ripley, or who really killed Houley, or what would happen to Ripley's business.

DT gets a HUGE chunk of onscreen time in DW... and I still would love more

Never enough. Never, never enough.

I was (ahem) quoting the inestimable gentleman in my icon here, DI Carlisle. (Bad Cop, Bon Cop, Blackpool style?)
