Anne with an "E" as in Evil....
Jul. 11th, 2003 03:44 pmIn the summer, the theatre where I work holds Summer Drama Camp for kids aged 9 to 13. For two weeks, they study the basic techniques of acting and put on a play of their own. The teacher writes their script, but they make up the plot and characters themselves.
Today is the end of the first session, and they're putting on a play called "Anne With an 'E' for Evil", which is, apparently, a parody of Anne of Green Gables.
They are so funny. One girl is in a cat costume and make-up, looking as if she should be singing and dancing in Cats. There's a boy dressed up like a farmer with a beard and a doctor with a long white coat and a serious look. Several girls are in glitzy long dresses.
The parents and family have come to see the show, and then they're having a party. It's the next generation of actors coming along.
