Questions, more questions...
Jun. 27th, 2007 09:21 amI got this from
1. What bill do you hate paying the most? The higher the number after the dollar sign, the more it hurts.
2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner? ...?
3. Last time you puked from drinking? Never have.
4. When is the last time you got drunk and danced on a bar? Never have.
5. Name of your first grade teacher? Miss Armstrong.
6. What do you really want to be doing right now? Writing.
7. What did you want to be when you were growing up? I decided I wanted to be a writer when I was about three, and never changed my mind. There were aberrations, though. When I was ten, and under the influence of Reed Richards, I wanted to be a scientist. At eleven, under the influence of Journey Into Mystery comics, I wanted to be a thunder god. We don't always get what we want; I am as suited to being a scientist as a thunder god, I guess.
8. How many colleges did you attend? One undergrad (Carleton University) and one grad school (University of London, King's College - London, England, not London, Ontario).
9. Why did you choose the shirt that you have on right now? It's clean and not too hot.
10. Gas Price? Always higher than it ought to be. Are you trying to lure me into an anti-automobile-society rant? I won't do it. I'm made of stronger stuff than that. But really, I consider a dependence on fossil fuels to be one of the things wrong with this world.
11. If you could move anywhere and take someone with you? Durham, England.
12. First thought when the alarm went off this morning? "I might as well listen to the news. Fancy that, no deaths in Afghanistan today." This is not to say that no one in all of war-torn Afghanistan may have died, but the CBC didn't mention it at 7 a.m.
13. Last thought before going to sleep last night? ...Zzzzz...
14. Favorite style of underwear? Anything comfortable.
15. Favorite style of underwear for the opposite sex? Irrelevant. Couldn't care less.
16. What errand/chore do you despise? Scrubbing the bathtub.
17. If you didn't have to work, would you volunteer? Probably.
18. Get up early or sleep in? Get up early.
19. What is your favorite cartoon character? Spike Spiegel. (Shouldn't that be 'who'?) Or am I interpreting 'cartoon character' too broadly, as anyone animated? Disney's Pocohantas might be on the list, or the Chris Potter version of Gambit.
20. Favorite NON sexual thing to do at night with a girl/guy? Talk, if the talk is good.
21.Have you found real love yet? Yes. I found it but I couldn't keep it.
22. When did you first start feeling old? I don't feel old yet. Do you think it will ever happen? I find a certain irony in a set of questions that talks about getting drunk and dancing on tabletops, then talks about 'feeling old'. Ah, how jaded the youth of today!
23. Favorite 80s movie? Dangerous Liaisons (1988) with John Malkovich, Keanu Reeves, Michelle Pfeiffer, Uma Thurman and Glenn Close.
24. Your favorite lunch meat? Beef tongue.
25. What do you get every time you go into Sam's Club? Or Walmart? I never heard of Sam's Club. I don't go to Walmart often enough to have a regular thing to buy, though when I do go there, I usually browse their collection of action figures. They get somewhat different ones from what I see elsewhere.
26. Beach or lake? Canal. River.
27. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual? Yes.
28. How many people do you stalk on Facebook? I don't stalk anyone anywhere. Are you trying to scare me off Facebook?
29. Favorite guilty pleasure? I have no guilty pleasures. I am shameless about all my pleasures. I can think of no reason to be guilty about pleasure. It's such a puritan sort of question, and is 'guilty' and 'pleasure' go together. They don't. They shouldn't.
30. Favorite movie you wouldn't want anyone to find out about? See the above note about guilty pleasures. I have received, on occasion, some derision for my love of The Sound of Music. I can live with it.
31. What's your drink? I don't have any one drink. Doctor Who tempts me to say banana daiquiris - of which I have had exactly one in my life, on the Doctor's recommendation. Torchwood tempts me to say 'coffee' - which I have started drinking with caffeine again, at least for the time being. I drink water a fair amount, but I suppose my drink of choice is generally Black Lagoon Juice - otherwise known as diet root beer.
32. Cowboys or Indians? Both. This reminds me again of the sig and slogan of a friend of mine who was a bi activist: "I'm a both/and person in an either/or world." My mother used to joke about how, as a kid, she wanted me to love my dolls and instead I slept clutching my bow and arrow in my arms. I loved cowboys too. My preference for Indians was marginal, and mostly due to the book He Went With Christopher Columbus, which was a passionate favourite for a few years. These days I probably incline a little more to cowboys. (Clint Eastwood, Mal Reynolds, Spike, even Captain Jack Harkness, being all cowboy types.)
33. Cops or Robbers? Cops. Now, if the question had been "cops or intergalactic con men?", or "Alliance or Serenity?", my answer would be different.
34. Who from high school would you like to run into? ... Mr. Davidson, maybe. He was my Grade 13 English teacher. We had a mutual-admiration thing going. Last I saw him was maybe ten years later, I ran into him in the street. He'd chucked his old life as a schoolteacher and was living as a street performer in Vancouver. My kind of guy.
35. What radio station is your car radio tuned to right now? I don't have a car or a car radio. If I did it would be tuned to CBC-1, probably.
36. Norm or Cliff? Who are they?
37. The Cosby Show or the Simpsons? Neither. I dislike and avoid TV comedy. Though as TV comedy goes, I rather like both those shows more than most. This doesn't mean I would watch them unless forced to do so.
39. Do you like the person who sits directly across from you at work? Yes. I work with good people.
40. If you could get away with it, who would you kill? No one. Ever. Under any circumstances. I practise ahimsa, like Mikal the Geomaler. I try to harm no one. I can really relate to the Doctor telling Jack not to kill the Master, and saying he wants to save him.
41. What famous person(s) would you like to have dinner with? Can I have dinner with John Barrowman? Please, please? ...It is a nice thought that of the people I would most like to have dinner with, I've had dinner with the people who are top of the list: Dorothy Dunnett, Moebius, and Frank Miller, for example. (On several occasions, both of them. Nice memories.) I love having dinner with
42. What famous person(s) would you like to sleep with? Julius Caesar, Conrad de Montferrat, Henry II Plantagenet, William Shakespeare, Cleopatra, Louise Brooks, Katharine Hepburn. How long a list do you want? Can I list fictional people?
43. Have you ever had to use a fire extinguisher for its intended purpose? Yes.
44. Last book you read for real? How do you read a book except for real? Exit Strategy by Kelley Armstrong. Currently reading Lean Mean Thirteen by Janet Evanovich.
45. Do you have a teddy bear? Yes.
46. Strangest place you have ever brushed your teeth? Weird question. Can't think of anywhere strange.
47. Somewhere in California you've never been and would like to go? ... the San Francisco Opera. I've been to San Francisco (and love it) but I've never seen an opera there.
48. Do you go to church? No.
49. At this point in your life would you rather start a new career or a new relationship? Both. Neither. Yes. Whichever. Depends what the career is and who the relationship is with and what kind of relationship it is.
