Thanks for all the good wishes for the year! Good books and good discussions are never a problem with the Bujold list and piffle around, nor the good friends either.
Good musicals...we'll see. Am going to a dinner theater production of Annie Get Your Gun Friday night as a gift from my sister-in-law. Said theater is in the mountain tourist town of Helen, Ga., which as s-i-l points out is a little down from her present last year, which was Avenue Q on Broadway. Should be fun, anyway.
I tend to think of the best musicals being ones I've seen in New York, London, or Toronto, or the touring companies that come to the NAC. But that isn't always true. I saw a production of "Oliver" put on at a school in England once - put on by the students - that couldn't be surpassed; and I saw a very boring production of "My Fair Lady" at a glitzy theatre on the Strand. Who'd have thought you could make "My Fair Lady" boring?
Annie Get Your Gun has wonderful music! I've never seen Avenue Q, but I'd like to.
