A detail I love is something that Captain Jack doesn't say to the Doctor. He's willing to say, and quite rightly, "You abandoned me."

What he doesn't say is, "You abandoned me right after I gave my life for you. You abandoned me right after I became the kind of hero you wanted me to be."

He doesn't need to say that, because the Doctor already knows only too well, and Martha doesn't need to know.

There are some fab in-jokes, and one that deals with the canonicity of the TV movie (it isn't canonical). There's a flashback to Gallifrey, and more about Jack and Torchwood. The Master also has a companion of his own.

There's also a great line from Jack that suggests he recognises that Martha is in the same situation as himself re: the Doctor (i.e., they both love him, but he doesn't notice).

Loved the in-jokes - I wonder if I got them all? I had to explain some of them to maaseru and maaboroshi afterwards.

I am so very glad that the TV movie is noncanonical! What a relief! I'm sure I can enjoy it more, knowing I don't have to take it seriously. (Sandi gave me a DVD copy of it a few days ago.)
