I got an e-mail message this morning from Sheila, the CM of our apazine, Apaplexy. She said, "You said you'd do the covers for the zine this time, right? You said you'd do Torchwood covers. But of course, do anything you want."

I said I'd design the covers? When'd I say that? Was I drunk? (Note: that's a joke. I don't drink. Well, not much.)

But, okay, I can make the covers. (Frantic search for the cover stock, which I know I have in the apartment somewhere. Yes. Here. Got it. Whew.) And yes, I could do Torchwood pix. Twist my arm. But most of the Torchwood pictures I have are either screencaps, or photos of John Barrowman looking gorgeous1, or fan cartoons that wouldn't make a lot of sense to those who haven't seen the show. And they're here, I need something I can access from work.

I could use pictures of John Barrowman at CERN. A science or science-fiction angle is good for Apaplexy, though not, strictly speaking, necessary - just something that interests a lot of the people there.

Do you have any ideas? Suggestions? Inspirations out there?

MHM... can't really help atm, because my brain got fried by this (http://community.livejournal.com/suchstuff_icons/24244.html)

NOT work safe, however small the icons are. Just for your record.

I'll see if I can come up with some images. Promo pics on the BBC site? Article scans of hi-res from [community profile] barrowmanfans?

Oh dear. I'm at work now and I can't look at your 'not work safe' link even though I'm dying to. Later, later, later.

BBC promo pics would be okay - not terribly exciting to me because I look at them so often, but that won't be true of the others in the apa. I'll scout around [livejournal.com profile] barrowmanfans some.

I like the background on the one here http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,21886303-5006022,00.html

(then again, I like the last line of the article too..)

Nice to know Apaplexy is still going strong.

I like that article - bad excuse for an inability to spell, though. I bet he can spell TARDIS.

I almost chose that picture, but decided on the one where Jack's holding up his Webley with the SUV behind him. Looking kind of tough and macho in a gay sort of way.

Yes, Apaplexy is thriving! I tend to recycle some of my livejournal reviews and commentaries, on the rationale that I have only one life to talk about, but I try to take care to add fresh material too - and of course the mailing comments.

It's been very interesting lately - we even have a member from Brazil.

I have the promo pics that were floating around for a while if you want to use them. Multiple single shots of everyone save Ianto. Got a couple of group shots too.

If I ever get some more "spare time", I hope to be re-joining ... Maybe next decade.

Next decade!!! Oh dear. We'll be doddering old people by then, - won't we? Do you think it will take you that long to catch up on your sleep?

I finally used the promo photos on the BBC site - they came out pretty well. Thanks for the offer!

A pterodactyl and a bottle of barbecue sauce? A picture of Cardiff Center with a pterodactyl flying above?

What a great idea! I was looking for a pterodactyl - didn't think of the barbecue sauce. In the end I decided a picture of Captain Jack was more fun... well, sexier. Maybe I'll do the pterodactyl next time. A whole TW series of covers.

Lack of sleep is rather less of a problem than just plain *lack*of*time*, generally.

At times like these, I feel as if I live under an elephant's foot ... mt life is very two-toned (black/white) and *flat*. Methinks I'll need a new job soon -- if only because the current job has such miserable accessibility and it should be paying me more (IMNSHO).

It would be nice to see you find a job with better hours and/or location. Meanwhile, don't let it get you down any more than you can help it. You can make the most of it, or make the least of it - try to look on the good side.
