I Can't Explain
Gwen was relieved to see Ianto get over Lisa. She liked Ianto, and admired the way he used his job to help him struggle out from under the weight of his despair.
He was joking more now. Humming a tune, one morning. It wasn't until she noticed the flowers on his desk that she put two and two together.
"If it was anyone else," she teased, "I'd think you were in love."
"No!"
"Ianto Jones, is that a blush I see? Who's the lucky girl?"
"No one," he said firmly.
"Ianto?" Jack called from his office. "Is there any coffee?"

It's always fun to make empathic Gwen oblivious to sexuality
Which she sometimes is, if it isn't her own. Or even if it is her own - her reactions to Carys as sex-alien seem to have puzzled her a little. Above and beyond the pheromone thing.
and to the Jack/Ianto relationship!
I love the game of figuring out who knows what about whom at Torchwood. Jack is of course the 'big mystery' but there are little mysteries all over the place, including the BIG 'little mystery' of Ianto keeping his undead girlfriend in storage. Or Suzie having a father dying of cancer.
She did give the impression in Day One to have little experience of what a gay man might be like.
She did seem reasonably clueless, didn't she?
it runs as a good counter to her far more obvious relationship with Owen
Owen and Gwen were hopeless at being discreet. It didn't need telepathy to see they were all over each other. Jack and Ianto, on the other hand, are quite good at keeping secrets - their own and others'. Obviously by "Captain Jack Harkness" Owen has twigged that Ianto has a thing for Jack, but he thinks it's just vague wishful thinking at that point. I don't think anyone knows it's a two-way thing till they see Jack kiss Ianto in "End of Days".
I'm not sure why I enjoy all this so much, but I do.
