Excelsior....
Jul. 3rd, 2003 08:36 pmI joined the fitness club today. Never thought I'd do such a thing, but there I was, joining.... It's always seemed like one of those things rich people do, or grownups, or people who don't make time to read. $38/month, and the freedom of the place. I'm hoping to use it frequently and effectively - squeezing in what time I can between yoga classes and walking.
Reading comic books and mystery novels on the elliptical trainer and the cycling machines.
Taking rowing lessons... maybe.
My orientation lesson is on Saturday.
The greatest pleasure of the day was lunch with Lisa. Lisa is one of my oldest and dearest friends - we met back in (some mental arithmetic here) 1962. She works a DND, a few blocks from where I work, and occasionally we meet for a walk at lunchtime. Today - it was hot, we had to squeeze it in, but we hadn't had a walk for weeks and it seemed like a good idea.
It was.
After returning some library books to the library, we bought some salad (mine was broccoli and chicken, quite in keeping with my diet) and sat under a shady tree in Mackenzie King Park and talked about books, meditation, yoga, life and everything that was going on in our lives. It was such a nice de-stresser in the middle of the day. I told her about the new baby bird and the kundalini.
She has the new Janet Evanovich novel on request at the library already.
