Heroes: Godsend...
Jan. 25th, 2007 09:40 pmWhat fun Heroes is.
- I continue to love Hiro. His attempt to steal the sword - beautiful!
- I have been wondering who the 'they' referred to by Mr Bennet was - the persons behind his institute. I'm wondering now if it is Linderman. He seems to be behind, or in the middle of, so much.
- Claire seems to have matured a lot since the beginning of the series. I like her more all the time. I liked the whole theme of her re-enacting her first videotaping with Zak.
- I had been getting quite bored with Niki and Jessica, but this episode I loved the 'split personality' scenario, including moments when I was not sure whether I was seeing Jessica or Niki. Cool.
- Matt is so dumb he is starting to annoy me. Not that I want all the characters to be strategic geniuses, but Matt is so clueless I want to shake him. And I hope Clea Duvall really isn't gone forever!
- Peter, Peter, Peter. I live for the Peter Petrelli scenes.
- Though I don't usually like Nathan, I love, absolutely love, his interactions with Hiro. "Frying man." Heh.
- Only a glimpse of the Invisible Man; I squeed loudly when we saw Christopher Eccleston's name in the credits, but I could have spared myself the trouble - neither
maaseru nor
maaboroshi even noticed my Eccleston-passion. Looking forward to more. - Mohindar was lovely, as always, but I'm starting to hope for some action from him. I liked his scenes in India with Dream Boy. Seeing him with Mr Bennet wasn't enough - I want to see him have some action, some powers, to make a decisive or significant move. Othewise what's he doing there?
- I guess I was wrong in my hunch that Eden wasn't dead.
- I really like the Haitian guy. Does he have a name?
- Sylar reminds me of Renfield. It's the bug.

That was so beautiful. He was like "I NEED this sword", and it totally wasn't real, poor Hiro. He was SO EXCITED when he made it out of the museum with it, and then he was SO unhappy when he realized it wasn't real.
I have been wondering who the 'they' referred to by Mr Bennet was - the persons behind his institute. I'm wondering now if it is Linderman. He seems to be behind, or in the middle of, so much.
I really don't want Bennet (HRG) to be connected with Linderman. Everyone else seems to be connected with Linderman. And HRG seems truly to want to help, to do everything he can to help Claire. But there is something weird going on with him. I'd like to think that he's psuedo-governmental, and that Linderman is the Big Bad of the series, or that Linderman is a Hero from an earlier generation (like Claude seems to be), and that he's helping out, because he's so connected, with the painting and the sword and Nathan and just everything.
Claire seems to have matured a lot since the beginning of the series.I liked the whole theme of her re-enacting her first videotaping with Zak.
That scene was wonderful. When Claire told Zach "I'm Claire Bennet and as far as you remember, this is attempt number one", which was adorable. I really like Claire and I think Zach could totally be her best friend (though I'm still in denial about his proclaimed "straightness", because they originally slated him to be gay), and it sucks that he lost his memories.
I had been getting quite bored with Niki and Jessica, but this episode I loved the 'split personality' scenario, including moments when I was not sure whether I was seeing Jessica or Niki. Cool.
Do you think they'll merge together into one persona? Because it seems really counter-productive to have two dualling personalities in one form.
Matt is so dumb he is starting to annoy me.
Aw, poor Matt. He's just, like, so desperate to get some answers and to do his job. The number guessing game with his wife was super cute, though.
Peter, Peter, Peter. I live for the Peter Petrelli scenes.
YES YES YES YES YES. Peter wins for best character ever. I'm writing an entire fic table-challenge for him, because he's such a brilliant character. (Also, Milo is HOT).
Though I don't usually like Nathan, I love, absolutely love, his interactions with Hiro. "Frying man." Heh.
I've always liked Nathan, because I really understand where he's coming from. He's got expectations, and this entire world view, and he can't just accept that everything's gonna change. And his interactions with Hiro were awesome. Also, I love Nathan and Peter (and, yes, Nathan/Peter, because I'm sorry, but that's just hot).
Only a glimpse of the Invisible Man
Yes, but he's definitely going to get bigger in his role. I've read a few spoilers about him, but I won't share if you want to remain spoiler-free.
Mohindar was lovely, as always, but I'm starting to hope for some action from him.
I saw him referred to in a fic as the Seeker, which seems like such a perfect description of him. He's got The List, and he's going to hunt down the other Heroes, I think (I hope!).
I guess I was wrong in my hunch that Eden wasn't dead.
Do you not follow the online graphic novels?
I really like the Haitian guy. Does he have a name?
I LOVE him now. I like that he's helping Claire, but I want to know why. Why not just wipe her mind? Does he know that she's important in some way? He must know something that the rest of us don't, something involving Claire, because he saved her mind for a reason. Also, he's only called The Haitian right now.
Sylar reminds me of Renfield. It's the bug.
Okay, the bug is nasty. Sylar isn't being a very good villain right now.
I love this show so incredibly much. It's just so well done, and the characters are so likeable. And the fandom is just amazing, there's so much fic and involvement. It's great.

I really don't want Bennet (HRG) to be connected with Linderman.
I like your theory about him being government-related. The Linderman plot has to come into centre stage at some point. I like the way they play a theme from all sorts of different angles until things finally come together.
I'm still in denial about his proclaimed "straightness"
So am I! It's ridiculous. We all know Zak is gay. Really. And I like his interactions with Claire - though I hope he realizes soon at they could be friends.
YES YES YES YES YES. Peter wins for best character ever. I'm writing an entire fic table-challenge for him, because he's such a brilliant character. (Also, Milo is HOT).
Absolutely! Totally!
Nathan/Peter, because I'm sorry, but that's just hot
I wish! Seems totally unsexy to me. Maybe I'll warm to it in time - meanwhile I'm reading Peter/Isaac and fantasizing about Peter/Mohindar.

No. I guess I should!
I've read a few spoilers about him, but I won't share if you want to remain spoiler-free.
I'd rather be spoiler-free. Living in antici...pation.
This is one of those perfect fandoms. It's got scope and style.

Date: 2007-01-26 05:09 am (UTC)Seriously. The "character" has a MySpace blog, where it lists his favorite movies as being a bunch of really stereotypical gay-boy movies. Also, HELLO, so gay :D
No. I guess I should!
You really should. There's a lot of stuff that appears in the graphic novels that isn't in the show, and the GNs really factor into the understanding of the show. I mean, you don't have to read them to follow the show, but they really supplement it.
I'd rather be spoiler-free. Living in antici...pation.
Totally understand! :D

Date: 2007-01-26 01:47 pm (UTC)Yes. I'd say the character doesn't make much sense unless he's gay. And even if he is portrayed as gay, he's about the 'safest' gay prototype I can think of: very young, hangs out with a girl not a guy, appears to have no other friends of either gender. So what would be so daring about saying he's gay?
Before Heroes started I read advance publicity about how they planned to include gay characters - including the implication that some of the 'heroes' of the title would be openly gay. I see no sign of that, notwitchstanding the tactile 'brotherly' affection between Nathan and Peter. My suspicion is that there was a difference of opinion among the producers, and the anti-gay faction won.
I don't approve of that!
Okay, I'll read the graphic novels. Just as soon as I find time.

And Clea better not be gone for good! :sob: She's the thing that makes Matt fun!
True. I always like Matt in his scenes with her. When he's on his own - I tend to get impatient with him.

Date: 2007-01-26 06:30 pm (UTC)I change my mind about him regularly. Currently he's on my hate-list because I think removing the memories from Zak and Claire is a terrible thing to do. (Pause to consider a possible tie-in with Captain Jack and the Time Agency. Maybe that's who Mr Bennet works for!)
I am fascinated by getting just tiny bits and pieces at a time.
Yes. They seem to have found a good balance of giving and withholding information.
I'm just proud of myself for not actually squeaking with fangirlish glee.
I did!
Mohinder is gorgeous, but he really does need to DO something.
So true.

Date: 2007-02-11 05:31 pm (UTC)Third, it's one of the most original and different characters on TV. Of course there are many ways a character can be 'different' but I can't recall having ever seen any character like Hiro.
I enjoy Ando, too.

no subject
Date: 2007-02-11 05:59 pm (UTC)Theoretically. My enthusiasm for it is just about down to zero. This week, the picture on the station I taped it on lost its picture signal, so I haven't seen this week's episode yet - and don't know how much I care. I keep hoping it will catch my attention again, but this season just isn't doing it for me - not enough Sayid, perhaps? - and there's so much else to watch that I'm excited over.
