...Which wasn't a bad day, considering that I woke up with a headache at 4 a.m. and it lasted for about 12 hours. Ugh. Now, what brought that on?

Went to brunch (dim sum) at the Mandarin Ogilvie - seven of us. A good time was had by all. I started out planning to only order one or two dishes, to keep my diet pristine, but gave up with all the delicious and tempting things going by - I was just careful to eat nothing with sugar or wheat in it. Squid, bok choy, asparagus, other greens... and tripe! O happy day. Tripe is one of my favourite foods and there are few restaurants who serve it. Usually I have to cook my own - if I can find it.

[livejournal.com profile] walkingowl and I went back to my place, intending to watch a few episodes of Doctor Who and then go to a movie, but because of my headache - which was at its worst mid-afternoon - we didn't. Ah well, a low-key afternoon and evening was just the thing. I managed to make up a tray of diet-friendly snacks, and we vegged in front of the television, when we weren't just talking. A nice day.

I had a bad headache yesterday, too. I blamed drinking an entire bottle of wine the night before! Do you feel better, now?

Tripe?! I've never had it. I know it was Winston Churchill's favorite.

Interesting. I too had a blistering headache ... caused by a thumping sinus cold. Obvious clues: I woke up with a sneezing fit, my ears were stuffed up, my throat felt a bit like sandpaper ... you get the idea. [Sigh.]

I'm still not feeling my best today, despite two rounds of chicken soup and a spicy dish of chicken cacciatore at the lunch cafeteria. At that, I count myself lucky ... a co-worker had a few more difficulties than I did, to the point that I was thinking "bad news usually comes in threes -- right?"

I was blaming the weather, as I didn't have any wine. Seems unfair - all the pain and none of the pleasure. Perhaps a psychic link? It felt sort of like a hangover!

Winston Churchill was cool. I didn't know he liked tripe. That makes him even more cool.

Fell better soon! Keep up the chicken soup and try hot tea.

My coworkers have bad colds and I live in fear of getting them, but I seem to be okay so far. Unless that headache presaged a cold. We'll hope not!

His favorite dish was tripe with onions!

Oh, yum. That's one of my favourite dishes, too. A classic.
