If I understand correctly, Lindisfarne is the Anglo-Saxon name for Holy Isle - Bede uses it. I don't know what it means - it's a good question! I'll see if I can find the answer.
As for its being unipressive - believe me, even the less impressive castles give me a thrill - the most my country can scrape up is Casa Loma. (Which you can see in the X-Men movies.) But I do want to see the Priory. And the site. Just because of what it is.
I did see it once, from a distance, on the train from Edinburgh to London. That was a thrill in itself, with the sunlight on the North Sea, sparkling.
