Fannish Five...

- 1. The Vorkosigan books by Lois McMaster Bujold - Aral Vorkosigan. Yes, he's a fairly prominent character, but given how much I like him, I'd like to see him a lot more. Follow this up with more of Count Piotr Vorkosigan, and more of Ivan Vorpatril.
2. Doctor Who - Captain Jack Harkness. Only five episodes! We were robbed.
3. X-Men comics - Gambit. It doesn't help that they tried to raise his profile by giving him in own book, and it wasn't very interesting. I want to see more really good stories about Gambit, written by people who don't mind giving the character an edge.
4. Karin Lowachee's novels about The Macedon - Captain Cairo Azarcon. I just can't get enough.
5. The Pirates of the Caribbean movies - James Norrington. He's well done by in fanfic, but I'd love to see him more on the screen.
Aral
Date: 2006-09-08 09:33 pm (UTC)I'm not really looking forward to more Miles books, if they include Aral's death... and I'm afraid LMB will have to kill him off to bring new tension into the series ('mutie lord' becoming Count), otherwise, how interesting is a series of novels about Miles solving cases as, what is he, Auditor? But I don't want Aral to die! Let him live forever....
Alas, LMB says she can't write a book with Ivan as the central character. I think going back in time, to write about Aral and Piotr, would be great.
i love his Hawaiian shirt and uniform trousers.
PS as for the Liadan books, I'm warming to them but I don't think Val Con is much like Lymond.

Date: 2006-09-09 07:33 pm (UTC)As do I! He's one of my favourite characters, ever.
I don't want Aral to die, and don't see why he should. It was Bujold's choice to give him a heart problem, she could simply choose to improve his health! I know, she has to write her own books in her own way.... But if I had my way, we'd get much more of his life and his adventures. In or out of Hawaiian shirts. I know she's planning another Vorkosigan book, and if she really does follow through on a plan to kill Aral, I don't know if I can stand it.
Re the Liadan books: I'm still not sure what to think about them.
