Needless to say, this was the result I wanted and I am very happy about it. Too bad I can't fix the misspellings and poor English usage in the text, though. I guess a nice picture of Nine will make me forgive even lapses in comma usage....

I am Davros!!!!!!!

oh nooooo!!!!!!

(creator of the Daleks, brilliant but bad)

In equal places are the 4th and the 6th doctor.

(the fourth is 'the one with the scarf' a popular excentric and the sixth is the one in the multi multi colored outfit who seemed to care about no one but himself but in the end rescued the day once and again)

But Davros....!!

Well, so it must be

I took this a while ago, and came out as One. I always come out as One on Doctor Who quizzes.

Still... that means I get to go on the Third Crusade!

LOL - scary! Those skeletons in your closet!

the fourth is 'the one with the scarf' a popular excentric

Was that Tom Baker? I've heard a lot about him.

Well, so it must be

Somehow his reminds me of Ian McKellen, who's so very nice, but he makes such a dramatic villain.

One was John Pertwee, right? Or am I confused again?

Going on crusade would be cool. But I imagine any of the Doctors could go on any crusade they wanted any time they wanted to.

I am envious.

I wanted to be Four, but my problem is I tend to answer these quizzes honestly, instead of going with the choice that will get me the result I want. :)

Eccleston was excellent for the part they wrote him, but I prefer Tennant -- old school charm with new school character development. He's the best of both worlds. Plus, DT is a fan, and it shows. You can tell how happy he is. CE, as good as he was, treated it like a job.

Four is... which? Tom Baker? I know, I know, I should stop asking and look them up. Or memorize them. Or something. Okay, I looked him up, and I see I'm right. (Patting myself on the back.)

I always answer these quizzes honestly too, and the truth is that I identify with Nine more than any of the other Doctors - insofar as I know them, which isn't far at all, except for 8, 9 and 10.

old school charm with new school character development

What a great description of Ten! I love Ten deeply and passionately, but Nine is the one I relate to more. Love them both, of course.

DT is a fan, and it shows.

That extra bit of panache?

I should memorize it as mnemonic or something. Make an acrostic of it. I really should know this by now.

1. Hartnell
2. Troughton
3. Pertwee
4. Baker
5. Davison
6. Um... okay, I need help on this, since I don't know the order of McCoy and Colin Baker. (Also the two Bakers confuse me.) Okay, from Wikipedia:
1. First Doctor, played by William Hartnell (1963–1966)
2. Second Doctor, played by Patrick Troughton (1966–1969)
3. Third Doctor, played by Jon Pertwee (1970–1974)
4. Fourth Doctor, played by Tom Baker (1974–1981)
5. Fifth Doctor, played by Peter Davison (1981–1984)
6. Sixth Doctor, played by Colin Baker (1984–1986)
7. Seventh Doctor, played by Sylvester McCoy (1987–1989, 1996)
8. Eighth Doctor, played by Paul McGann (1996)
9. Ninth Doctor, played by Christopher Eccleston (2005)
10. Tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant (2005–present)

Not too difficult, really.

I'm assigning myself this as memory work while I'm out of town.

I haven't been able to make any more DVDs. The way I do these is to play the AVIs and rerecord them onto DVD, and it's 1) been too hot to even go into the living room, let alone run the DVD recorder, and 2) I haven't had the time.

I might be able to make you VCDs of them now that I have a few weeks without 30STM. I haven't watched anything past the Cybermen myself.

I only recently saw someone who must have been into the most horrendous fire. Is saw his arms and his face, all very havily scarred, red lines running accross it. But he was wearing a short sleaved T shirt and making no attempts to hide it (why should he, well no reason, but nevertheless many might feel the urge) he walked upright and proudly. I didn't speak with him and perhaps his is the most boring or conceited or nasty person around, but I could also imagine him to be a realy self assured person whohad to develop his verbal/charming skills to get people forget his looks.
who knows....

It would be nice to think that he was able to get beyond physical appearance on force of personality alone. Some people can. I don't imagine it's easy.

Personally, I have a lot of scars on my body, and I like to keep them covered - no sleeveless shirts, no short shorts. I'm not sure whether it's vanity or shame, but I certainly don't like to show my scars without good reason, if I can help it.

Date: 2006-08-21 01:34 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
Maybe I'll get to see him sometime. I confess that (though I had seen previous Doctors, at least in pictures, and in various clips, and some sort of random episodes) I tend to think of Nine as holding that place of "the special first one" for me.

Is it true that the Doctor's appearance is progressively younger?

Date: 2006-08-21 01:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wijsgeer.livejournal.com
well, scars are not nutral. Generally they are a reminder of a scarring event, not only physical, but I imagine, also mentally. (certainly things like being in a fire or accident. So, covering them up is may also be for yourself, a protection.
And also, it is protection against people asking about them. I have a good friend who has the problem that she self-harms. she cuts herself on her arms. But she chooses to wear short sleaves and not to cover it up. (the scars are noticeable if you look at her arms, but not the first thing you see about her). Still, I must say I think it is brave. Having to explain sever mental problems with a stranger who asks nosy questions is not what one is waiting for.

Date: 2006-08-21 02:05 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
No, scars are not neutral. Whether they are voluntary or involuntary. My scars are not associated with pain (for which I feel lucky) but certainly they have difficult associations mentally and in memory - being ill as a child, growing up looking 'different'. Nothing traumatic, but not very pleasant or positive either. It's all part of the mix that made up my life (and my body) and I suppose I don't want to put it on display in ways I can't control - I'm a private sort of person.

Very interesting with your friend who scars herself. I think it is brave too, and it may be part of her own statement of selfhood, or her relationship to others (not wanting to hide), or a sense that it isn't worth the bother to cover, or a self-reminder of the problem, or a distaste for too many clothe - who knows?

Anyway, we all have things we either don't want to explain on demand to nosy strangers, or things we don't even want to use to trigger the curiosity of nosy strangers in the first place.

When I was a kid (and my scars less easily hidden) I used to have to answer awkward questions from well-meaning adult strangers who obviously thought my parents were abusing me or starving me. That made me very uncomfortable.

I am glad to hear it. I didn't much like that idea. A few more Doctors along, and we'd have an infant protagonist.

Moreover, for a Time Lord, it should be a random or moot point anyway, what age he appears. We have quite enough time paradoxes shifting around here.

Date: 2006-08-21 03:18 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wijsgeer.livejournal.com
my friend does not show her scars of, or something like that. I know some people do, who have a sort of love hate relationship and with their bodies, who scar and tatoo and pierce and have these things in the same category.
My friend would dearly not scar herself, not self harm, only sometimes her mental anguish is too much to bear and that is the only way she can handle it.
But she is not ashamed of the scars, of the problem, even tough it can be hard to explain (an even more obvious scar she has is the wheel chair she is in (jump)) some people have soo many scars.

Date: 2006-08-21 03:43 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fajrdrako.livejournal.com
Yeah, there's any number of reasons or circumstances for scars or cutting or just about anything. Some explainable, some not. The person whose body it is has the right to choose how much information to give about it - or not.

Sigh - I wish I had access to SCI FI, but there's no way I can see it - it's one of those things that just doesn't come over the border. I don't quite understand how we can get some American channels and networks but not others. I don't even know - besides the CRTC - who regulates these things and who or what determines that we don't get SCI FI and why we don't get it. (SCI FI itself? Rogers Cable?) Canada will be getting S2 but not necessarily S3 or Torchwood, or at least, not necessarily any time soon.

Meanwhile I am miffed with myself because I failed to videotape "The Empty Child" when it aired on CBC last week - waah! I already have it on DVD but I'd sort of had my heart set on getting the whole season on videotape so I could watch it in the bedroom. And that's my favourite episode.

Hmm... I wonder if this is an excuse to buy a second DVD player?

Isn't that wonderful news? I am so happy to see the award go to something that was absolutely deserving, even though it was up against other nominations of the absolutley highest calibre.

Have the other results been released yet? have you heard what won 'best novel'? And other categories?

Damn. I wish I could be at World Con. I'm even fantasizing now about going in 2008, when Lois McMaster Bujold will be Guest of Honour. Of course, with her as GoH, I'm not likely to actually meet her or get a chance to talk to her. I'd much go to some pokey tiny con somewhere that she might attend. No, scratch that, of course I want to go to World Con, I just want to go to all the other cons too. And Denver is a good city. It has The Tattered Cover, where I've met up with Dunnett fans for coffee and dessert. More nice memories.

Wonderful! I didn't think it was a great movie in its own right, but as a tribute to those wonderful characters, and to the skill of Joss Whedon, and to the whole doomed and beautiful show.... Serenity deserves it as the finale to an amazing brief moment of television excellence.
