I have already thoroughly enjoyed the comparison of the Doctor with Mal Reynolds, as noted by the clever [livejournal.com profile] bellanut. Now I have a comparison of the Doctor with Spike from Cowboy Bebop by [livejournal.com profile] seti_drd here.

I love fandom.

Are you a Bebop fan?

I love the Bebop comparison! It's eerie and hilarious. I love Spike.

I love Spike too. There are so many paradigms where different characters I love intersect. Brown coats! Troubled pasts! Good eyebrows!

Now if only they all had swords.

Insofar as I've seen it, yes. I liked the movie. Haven't see the TV series and haven't read the manga. I'd like to find more of it.

I own the series. More into the series than the movie, I think, though I own the movie too and liked it. Haven't read the manga entirely.

Mmm, Eden eyebrows...

I just checked at the library; they have vols. 1 and 2 of the manga, so I ordered them. None of the series or the movie, unfortunately.

I may try downloading.

Good eyebrows are underrated.

Though I really, really enjoyed the movie (and the characters) I found it somewhat difficult to follow - to figure out who characters were and how they related to each other. There was a lot of guesswork involved.

Don't know if you've seen my email yet, but there are 12" dressed dolls/action figures of Ten, now!

do watch the series, it is sooo fun!!!! It is one of my favourites. And I found the comparison hillarious. Thanks a lot for the link.

Thanks for reminding me of that Ten/Mal comparison. It's brilliant. And have you seen [livejournal.com profile] bellanut's other DW posts. Another hour of my life that I'll never see again. *g* Look - freckles! (http://bellanut.livejournal.com/141482.html#cutid1). ::drools::

I confess: I was browsing [livejournal.com profile] bellanut's LJ a little today, but I am at work and I am supposed to be working so I didn't do it much, just ten minutes or so.... I can see I still have a lot of happy browsing to do before the next season starts.

Freckles. Yes. Happy sigh.

When it comes to this fandom, I seem to be insatiable.

I think it makes more sense if you watched the series. Overall, I think the series is much better than the movie.

Yeah, they have Cowboy Bebop on interloan at local libraries but most don't loan them out :(.

Another thing Nine and Ten have in common: they're both absolutely beautiful, in that perfect, lucid way that has a lot to do with looks and even more to do with personality and animation... almost as though there's a light behind their eyes. Almost like Elves, but not distant. Just... you know.... clear.

This to me is a reminder that the Doctor can see/sense/perceive the movement of the cosmos, the energy of atoms, the colours of time - whatever aspects of the universe there are that he can see that we cannot.

It's one of the few shows I know of where the ultra-intelligent and not-quite-human protagonist really seems ultra-intelligent and not quite human, both in his actions and in his looks.

And of course this is beautiful to see.

Thanks for the fun Dr. Who link!
