Exhausted. Happy. Went to Pat and Sandi's after work to see Doctor Who; it was so hot I arrived at their apartment like a jellyfish and Sandi and I sat in semi-conscious exhaustion before we cooled down enough to do anything, like talk, or eat. Pat seemed to have more stamina.

Beulah joined us and we watched The Idiot's Lantern (rubber soles). I'd only seen it once; it was fun to see again. I do like Tommy, and the fall of his father. I like the mother's satisfaction in her independence, and the way Rose and the Doctor push Tommy to remain a friend of his father. I never got used to Rose's skirt. I loved the way Rose handled Eddie Connelly - by ruthlessly bullying him just like he bullied others. I love the Doctor's anger when the Wire attacked Rose, and the huge hug he gives Rose when she returns, face intact. I also rather love the chase/climb up the broadcasting tower.

Maureen Lipman is a former pupil of the same high school as myself.

Did you know she was going to be in "The Idiot's Lantern" before you saw it?

It was mentioned in the press about the series, so yes.

I occasionally see people I know on TV shows that are filmed in Canada. Not often, but it happens. I'd be really impressed to see someone with a connection to me on "Doctor Who"!

I've never met her. She's a good deal older than I am, but there was a school drama award, the Maureen Lipman Cup, which she had endowed.

I don't think anyone of note ever went to my high school. When I started there, it was still a very new school. While I was there, it became a French-Catholic school, and English was no longer in use in the grades behind me. My grade 13 class was the last English-speaking class to graduate from there.

This is not to say that some French graduates since then might not be stars, but if so, I never heard of them.
