When I was doing the Friday Five, I listed 'famous' people I would like to meet, defining "famous" as people I know of in a public way - all of them writers whose work I admire.

I would like to add Ron Moore (of Battlestar Galactica) and Russell T. Davies (of Doctor Who snd Queer as Folk) to my list.

Just watched The Doctor Dances with my mum. She loved it damn near as much as I did. She also thanks you for getting me into these shows. :D

I'm so glad you both enjoyed The Doctor Dances. I love that - like the whole "Weapons factory of Villangard" thing, and Jack's, "Well, I've got a banana, and in a pinch you could put up some shelves." Or the exchange:
The Doctor: We were... talking about dancing.
Capt. Jack Harkness: Didn't look like talking.
Rose: Didn't feel like dancing.

and best of all:
Doctor: Who am I to argue with history?
Rose: Usually the first in line.

Now, stop me before I quote the whole episode.

I'm so glad you're enjoying it, and that your mother is too.

Their respective grins off of this line are probably two of my favorite moments of the whole thing so far. So much conveyed in such a simple expression.

Oh my goodness yes.

So much conveyed in such a simple expression.

So much understanding, and feeling. Just a wonderful moment in just about every way. She knows him so well at this point - and he knows her.

That line reveals so much about their time together that we don't get to see. When you know a-- er...-- man cuts himself shaving when he's worried, you know that-- man-- well, by God.

Yes - one of those glimpses, a hint. A sort of mundane intimacy and mutual sharing of their lives. So ordinary, between most other couples - but so very extraordinary, with these two. And I find that a very humanizing line, even though it emphasizes the Doctor's alienness.
