Oooh happy news! I just read this - thanks and a big kiss for
Pete Wisdom, for those who don't know, is one of the best creations ever of Warren Ellis. A Marvel Mutant with brains, a bad-boy attitude, and covert connections. A little bit dark ops, a little bit renegade, a little bit charlatan... my kind of guy. A sort of Marvel version of what I thought DC's John Constantine ought to have been, though Constantine went other directions and never did have the slick superspy angle. Wisdom had the good sense to have an affair with Kitty Pryde before Warren Ellis stopped writing him - their banter was a joy forever. Then the character disintegrated, in fits and starts, into comic book oblivion. No one could write him well except Warren Ellis. Maybe it takes a chain-smoking, ahrd-drinking Englishman to do it.
Now Wisdom is back in New Excalibur, a series that might be good once it settles to a writer and a theme. And even better, he's back in his own miniseries with a writer I don't know, but he's British and he has Doctor Who credits, both good signs.
Happy, happy day.
Now I'm going for lunch, with thoughts of Pete Wisdom.

It looks promising.

For me, it very much depends who's writing him. He can be very bland. But in the hands of a good writer, he's stupendous.
