Wolverine vol. 2: Coyote Crossing...
Jul. 7th, 2006 04:18 pmA while back I read Greg Rucka's graphic novel, Wolverine, vol. 1: The Brotherhood. Today I read its immediate sequel, Wolverine vol. 2: Coyote Crossing.
In this story, Wolverine comes across a truckload of corpses near El Paso; people were being smuggled from Mexico to the U.S. without enough air or water. Determined to find and kill the villain responsible, Logan follows the trail in human crime - and discovers something that stops him short. Meanwhile, Federal Agent Cassie Lathrop is following Logan's trail, against all advice, because she remains fascinated by him. One can understand the appeal.
It's a good story. The art by Fernandez has a good feel to it, though he sometimes makes Logan look too normal, too handsome, and too tall. (Hugh Jackman has the same problem.) From time to time I felt as if I was reading a Punisher story, but it still had the bite of Logan's individuality.
