Watched the Doctor Who episode Army of Ghosts this evening. It was only aired in the U.K. yesterday - why do I feel I've had to wait for it for an eon?

(1) I love Jackie being on the TARDIS (kidnapped!), and taking a part in the action. I love her relationship with the Doctor - sheer mother-in-law and son-in-law, affection, suspicion, hostility.... And I love the way he digs at her. I just plain love Jackie. She's terrific. I wouldn't want to spent ten minutes in her company, but I love her anyway. Her dialogue about how Rose was changed was wonderful - I wanted to tell her, yes, Rose will never be the same, that's what growing up is all about.

(2) I loved the implications throughout that Rose and the Doctor know they will be together forever, and want to be - even if they also know they can't be. Gad! I didn't want to be a Doctor/Rose shipper, and I'll swear I'm really not, but their relationship makes me all sentimental.

(3) Loved the Eastenders and Ghostbusters reference, especially since they were mercifully brief. Any more would have been too much.

(4) Love Torchwood, which brings back memories of my Man from U.N.C.L.E. days. If Torchwood is here, can Captain Jack be far behind? Loved the visuals throughout - the composition and lighting were amazing. Loved the use of plastic in the first appearance of the Cybermen at Torchwood. The Voice Sphere backlit in gold. The use of white, and white light, in so many of the Torchwood scenes.

(5) Lots of nifty dialogue - "If I'm the enemy, am I a prisoner?" And then the Doctor, true to form, starts to give orders to the Torchwood people.

(6) It was fun to see Mickey again - I wish I cared. I really, really wish it had been Captain Jack who popped up. Ah well. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder.

(7) The Daleks and Cybermen thing unexpectedly got all my fangirl hormones going. I think this show has done something to my brainwaves. Love the idea of the Void Sphere, a vehicle that travels the nothing between dimensions. For a race that was fully Exterminated at least twice, the Daleks sure are persistent.

(8) I'll swear David Tennant gets cuter with every episode. And that's 'cute' both in the sense of 'sexily attractive' and 'cutesy'. I would not have believed in the past that these characteristics could be compatible, but then, I'd never seen this Doctor. His shoes alone make me wibbly.

(9) Love it when he gets authoritative.

(10) The opening sequence with Rose was breathtaking. Not at all in the mood of the rest of the show. They seem to have put their cliffhanger at the beginning of the show, rather than the end. Which gave them the opportunity of making a second cliffhanger at the end. Artful!

(11) Seems that Torchwood, for all its high-tech character, has pretty lax security. Not only does Rose wander through the place undetected, but so do a small army of Cybermen, pretending to be renovations. Huh?

(12) Loved the way the whole word just adapted to the ghosts, recognizing their dead fathers and reporting on their appearances like weather reports.

(13) Absolutely totally loved the way Singh didn't fall for Rose's psychic paper trick.
