pizzaface98 directed me to this promo clip for the next season of Veronica Mars. Interesting compilation, I'm not sure if any of the scenes are things we haven't already seen, and I'm wondering what's going to happen with Logan...
Oh, I'm so glad to have introduced you to a brilliant show! It's all fun, but in my opinion, each season gets better as it goes on - growing in intensity towards the season's end.
And the show keeps surprising me with the twists and turns of its plot and revelations.
Don't you love Veronica and her father? And all that witty dialogue.
My icon is happy to take full blame. Mind you, I just changed my icon... but Veronica is not far away.
So far, there are 2 things I didn't like, 1 was the way anti depressants were protrayed, when Duncan considers not taking them and than later does and how he is more indepent when not using them. There is no AD that makes you a follower, you might be one by inclination or training, but that is something completely different. Second thing I was a bit uncomfortable with was Wallace romance with the black girl in the epiosode about the email-conmen. All this time he hangs out with this beautifull white chick and there is hardly any sexual tension (as far as I can see) and then he falls for this (nice, I have nothing against her) black girl. And why does she disappear the next episode? They didn't even split up properly, it was like her role was not important enough. (Or will she feature later?)
The rest was great fun, yes. I've got the first 11 episode of season 1. So lots to look forward to.
You honed in on two things I had doubts about about, too. Now, Duncan's role (and his psychological troubles) are more complicated than they first appear, but it isn't always smoothly or convincingly handled. I might add that I didn't care a lot about how Duncan was written, though, because I didn't ever much like Duncan. Even if Veronica did.
I too was bothered by Wallace's incipient romance which came to nothing - he seemed to care, but the girl disappeared, and there was no explanation, not even a comment that it didn't work out or she moved away or something.
No, no sexual tension between Wallace and Veronica. It took me a long time to come to like Wallace, but by the end of Season 1, I did. In Season 2 I had a few other problems with him, similar to my problems with the disappearing girlfriend (Georgina? was that her name?) in Season 1. Frankly, I'd have been happier if he'd had a white girlfriend at some point. It would have seemed more even-handed.
I had other, similar problems with his mother, who was otherwise a character I liked very much indeed.
All in all, I adore the show - but it's interesting that you picked two of the same things that I did that felt 'off'.

yes, The goodies of the show far outweight the negative points. Due to personal experiences I am always especially focused on how it is handled in stories. And there are also a lot of nonsense sotories about particular meds, that disturbs me. As far as I can see now, Veronica is very much the center of each episode, it is her intimate world we get to know best, even though there are some side steps to people like Duncan and her Father. That make it difficult to get a real feel for someone, for you sort of lack the proper knowledge how deep your insight is. (if that makes any sense). Well, I just wait and see how it goes. And though I would like Veronica to be flawless and only love a flawless boy (or girl), it is not the reality (and would make a much poorer schow)
No, Veronica herself is certainly not flawless - but I rather like her flaws, and she learns from experience, and sometimes regrets her actions. Those she loves aren't flawless, either. But they do tend to be interesting.
