Yesterday I was excited because the Company of Fools was holding auditions in our rehersal hall for Two Gentlemen of Verona, which I have every intention of going to see.

Today they had call-backs. I was sitting in the Green Room eating my lunch and reading Batman: No Man's Land, volume 4, when three actors came into the room. When they saw me they apologized, and asked if I minded if the used the room to go over their lines. Of course I didn't. I said quickly that I would be leaving soon - I was almost through my lunch anyway.

Then they started reading, and I didn't want to leave. At first they read it simply, without much expression; it was hard to get what was going on because they didn't get it. Then they discussed it, and did it again, with more expression. Every time they did it, it was more interesting, more clear, and more funny.

I didn't want to go back to the office, I was having such fun listening.

oh such a shame you didn't do a sneaky recording of a bit.

I love how much intonation can do. The meaning of the words is free floating in the air, in the vibration of the particles.

I love radio, I love radio plays or storieas and books read out loud like on the BBC, having a personal actor in my hands, close to my ear (my radio is next to my bed). Been spoken to, me, me alone.

great lunch!

Yes - I wish that would happen more often!

I love radio plays too, and (even more) books read aloud. And I love reading books aloud, if I can find someone to listen.

Books on CD are very expensive, so I get them from the library. Sadly, the selection isn't as good as I'd like it to be, but it's something.
