I just read the list of Hugo award winners, including Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form: "33" - Battlestar Galactica Written by Ronald D. Moore and Directed by Michael Rymer.

I was delighted to see this. [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi, [livejournal.com profile] maaseru and I think Battlestar Galactica is currently the best thing on TV - or at least, it would be, if it were on TV, but it isn't, worse luck. So we get it on second-hand relay and wonder why no Canadian station is carrying it. Meanwhile, my friends in the SF crowed seem to be unimpressed by it, for various reasons. The Jamie Bamber fans like it - but they aren't SF fans. I think it's some of the best SF I've ever seen, short of Firefly, and not far short at that.

Years ago, when I went to WorldCon as often as not, I used to assiduously read all the novels, novellas and short stories that were nominated for the Hugo awards. It was fun, but I'm not sure how I managed to find the time. Now I've probably read none of them.
