So I invited a bunch of friends (including [livejournal.com profile] commodorified over to watch Rupert's Land, and for a potluck supper. We sat happily eating and I went to put in the DVD and... couldn't. The machine wouldn't work. Wouldn't open - I couldn't even get a display.

So I borrowed [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi's machine. That one worked, but it wouldn't play the DVD.

Eventually we trooped over to Alayne's place, and watched Rupert's Land there. I enjoyed it of course - how could I fail to enjoy Samuel West in anything? The movie is oh-so-Canadian, at times embarrassingly so. But fun. I particularly liked the end, where they throw the coffin in the water.

Now I guess I have to buy a new DVD player. Damn.

If anyone has any advice on what kind of DVD player to buy or what to look for, I'm listening!
