Numerous people recommended Farscape to me, but all I'd seen was part of Th Peacekeeper Wars, which I'd watched with people who had never seen the show before, and I found the show both uncomprehensible and dull. I was told I should watch it from the beginning.
Truth to tell, I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch another show with funny-looking aliens.
But I was ready to try it again, and accepted Tasia's invitation to a Farscape video-party. I made salmon mousse and devilled eggs - which was fun, and the mousse turned out particularly nicely, though it turned out that one of the party hated eggs and Tasia can't eat salmon. The rest of us had a great time.
And guess what? I liked the show. Not with the passion I feel for Firefly, not with the edge-of-my-seat involvement I feel with Battlestar Galactica, but I thoroughly enjoyed the four episodes we saw. We saw the Premiere, I, E.T., Back and Back and Back to the Future, and... one other.
I never did come to like the use of puppets and alien make-up, especially with Rygel, but they became tolerable as I started to learn their personalities and to (at least partly) see the personalities rather than the looks. Aeryn Sun and John Crichton grew on me, and started to see quite attractive after a couple of episodes.
It's enough to make me hope I get a chance to see more.
