I go this from [livejournal.com profile] losthuan and since it's always cool I thought I'd do it again:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the "coolest" book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

My sentence:

It was not bad conscience that led Philocrates to leave Athens before his trial in 343; his sensibly conceived policy had turned out ill and, such being the nature of justice in Athenian political trials, prudence bade him anticipate the verdict.

From Philip of Macedon by George Cawkwell - which I see is listed on amazon.ca, hilariously, as "Philip of MacEdon". An old Scots-Macedonian King, no doubt!
