In the 'how times change' department....
May. 7th, 2004 01:39 pmAt lunchtime today I wandered into a comic book shop and browsed their $1 bin. One of the comics I got was DC's Christmas with the Super-Heroes #1 from 1988, which actually turned out not to be the one I thought it was. (I really wanted #2, but that's okay, I already own it anyway.) The beautiful John Byrne cover on this one is worth a dollar. And as near as I can tell... it isn't credited anywhere.
The inside back cover has the signatures of all the DC people as a design, including the signature of Julius Schwartz. Wave of happy nostalgia.

Date: 2004-05-08 07:28 am (UTC)The comic shop I was at was "Wizard's Tower", which is at the University of Ottawa. They don't have a lot of comics compared to, say, the Silver Snail and the Comic Book Shoppe, but they sometimes have things the others don't. They do have some Hellblazer graphic novels (reprints of the comic) by Warren Ellis and by Brian Azzarello, which tempt me, even though I'm wary of Hellblazer stories.
The Silver Snail also has a dollar bin, but there isn't usually anything very interesting in it.
