Medical visit...

I'm about to take Pryde to the vet. The white and pale blue budgie. She's been ailing lately.

I discovered I have a bit of a phobia about taking one of the little guys to the vet. I've had too many experiences of taking pets to the vet for something terminal.... But that's irrational. I have no reason to think she won't be okay. I just... hate this.

Good luck with the little one. I know about ill-bird worries. We've been very lucky with our birds and their health, and we have an amazing vet. Our vet and our bird sitter are the biggest (sometimes the only) sources of reluctance I have about ever moving out of Nashville, as I really don't think I could find anyone I trust as much.

So: fingers crossed that she'll be okay.

I know just what you mean; I get the same way when I have to take one of my cats to the doctor. Hate it hate it hate it. So much anxiety.

I understand you hating to take one of your pets to the vet. It's not something I like either. I hope that it turns out to be something easily cured, and I wish you and Pryde the best.

Thanks for the crossed fingers - it must have worked, because Pryde is okay. We're comfortably back home now!

Thanks for the hugs and the luck and the understanding and the crossed fingers. In the end it all went well - but I was going through a lot of motherly fear.

I don't know why it is - every rational thought I have tells me that taking her to the vet is the best thing to do, and the necessary thing to do. But it still feels like a terrible thing. Yeah, total anxiety.

Yes, thanks for the concern. She is - she will be - okay. I'll write an entry about what happened. I was so worried.

It turned out to have a good outcome - I was right to get a vet's advice, but Pryde will be okay, I'm happy to say. It's just so difficult to go through the process of seeing the vet, not knowing what will happen, or what's wrong.
