Hidalgo...

I almost didn't go to see Hidalgo, because... Well, for various reasons, none of them very good. Ambivalence. Perhaps a little fear of seeing Viggo Mortensen in a lesser role than as Aragorn, and what, after Aragorn, could be anything but a lesser role?
We made a fannish evening of it and went as a crowd and guess what? It was okay after all. I loved it.
I've never felt lust for a cowboy before.1
I was surprised and delighted to see J.K. Simmons in it. I love his acting. And I usually fail to recognize him from one role to the next.

1Malcolm Reynolds doesn't count. He's a captain, not a cowboy. Or maybe he's both.
