We webt for brunch at the Bay Bistro. It wasn't ideal for my diet but I did manage not to eat any wheat, cheese or sugar and my only real sin was coffee. I think I can handle it. I hope!

A good time was had by all. We talked about fandom a little and our writing a little - mostly none of us are doing any right now, which is a pity. Then [livejournal.com profile] josanpq produced a wonderful book she'd found called Non Campus Mentis, about the funny things university students have written about life, the universe, and everything. For example:

Arranged marriages required women to accept a kind of mate accompli. King Xerox of Persia invaded Greace, but feel off short at the battle of Thermosalami. Philip of Mastadon captured Greece and then was killed in a family sprawl.

Hmm, that last bit sounds quite Luthorlike.

So after considerable howling with laughter - you should have seen us when we read the maps in the back of the book - we trotted off to South Keys. There had been a plan to go to see The Return of the King again but we decided we had neither time nor money for it. Then we spent three hours shopping and I spent $135 on clothes instead of $10 on a movie. Hmm. Am I ahead here?

I was thrilled by the clothes, though. A considerable wardrobe at a magnificent price: Cotton Ginny is a wonderful place. When I went to the memorial even for Ken McGill someone remarked on my new garment - said I looked good in black. I said it was my favourite colour. "But you never wear black!" said those around me. I thought about it - I guess I've shrunk out of all my black clothes - and really felt I needed to get more. So everything I got today was black: trousers, jeans, three gorgeous shirts, and a hooded jacket. I called it my Lex wardrobe. [livejournal.com profile] maboroshimaki got all sorts of clothes, some of them pink, and refused to call anything Lana-like. (Her motto: reclaim the pink!)

It's dangerous to let fans go to a store together.
