30 Days of Doctor Who: Question 22: Something silly.

I'm not sure whether this is silly: maybe it's just my enjoyment of it that is silly. I love, absolutely love, the moment when Jackie Tyler slaps the Doctor in "Aliens of London".

The dialogue:

The Doctor: Actually, it's my fault. I sort of, uh, employed Rose as my companion.
Policeman: When you say "companion," is this a sexual relationship?
Rose Tyler, The Doctor: [they look at each other, and then they simultaneously say] No!
Jackie Tyler: [getting in the Doctor's face, rather threateningly] Then what is it? Because *you*, you waltz in here all charm and smiles, and the next thing I know she vanishes off the face of the earth! How old are you then? 40? 45? What, did you find her on the Internet? Did you go online and pretend you're *a doctor*?
The Doctor: I *am* a doctor!
Jackie Tyler: Prove it! Stitch this, mate!

    WHOP.

I also like his indignation afterwards: "Nine hundred years of time and space, and I've never been slapped by someone's mother."

Pim and I had a James Bond double bill this evening: we watched Goldfinger, followed by Dr. No.

I wasn't very impressed by Goldfinger which, except for the the bit with girl covered in gold, struck me as sort of hokey and pointless. But Dr. No - what an unexpected treat! It was old-fashioned fun like I remember from The Man From U.N.C.L.E., with an interesting and bizarre villain and Bond being, well, Bond-like. And I really liked Jack Lord as Felix Leiter - I haven't liked any of the other actors I've seen in the role. I even surprised myself by liking Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder.

Good Jamaica setting, too.
