RED

I saw the movie RED today with fairestcat. Of course I wanted to see it - it has many actors I love, like Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, and Karl Urban. And the comic it was based on was by Warren Ellis, whose writing I often love, and sometimes hate, and always find interesting. I haven't read that one, though - don't like the artist.

It turned out to be charming and funny and most entertaining. Not very clever, maybe - but witty and wry. Lots of good things about it, like Helen Mirren being a wonderfully bad-ass spy/killer and getting the guy she fell for years ago. And the innocent ingenue being smart and brave. And... lots of stuff. Okay, I don't usually like comedies, but this was one of those exceptions.
