Today I saw Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

It took me a while to think why I found this movie unsatisfying, like its predecessor. It isn't that the plot was silly, or that it didn't make much sense, or have much emotional involvement. It was that the protagonists (Jude Law and Robert Downey, Jr.) don't seem the least bit sexy to me. It isn't that I don't like them - I really like Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark - just that there isn't much appeal. In the first movie I found Kelly Reily extremely sexy as Watson's fiancée, Mary. This time I didn't find her as much so, though she had a slightly more interesting role. No, the only character I found sexy this time round was Noomi Rapace as Simza Heron, the Tarot card reader - and having a movie with a tarot card reader in it is enough of a kick you'd think I'd have enjoyed it more, but it wasn't enough to make it interesting. As a matter of fact, I fell asleep for a bit.

Steven Fry was amusing.

Maybe that was it: too much of it was funny, and I don't generally like comedies.
