I won't mention his name, because I know he wouldn't like it. I've known him since the 1970s: he's brilliant, irascible, and extremely eccentric.

A few monts ago he was asked to leave - no, make that 'forced to leave' - a group I'm in, because of his rudeness. He has been in this group for a very long time.

Within the group, there was controversy over his ejection. Legal action was threatened, without a leg to stand on. Feathers were ruffled.

For years, every time this group meets, I get a phone call the next Monday, without fail, from our friend, to discuss it.

Since his ejection, silence. I let sleeping dogs lie.

Then to my surprise, I got a "Happy Solstice" phone call from him today. I shouldn't be so surprised - he always calls me on solstices. But I really thought he'd ignore me this year.

I guess not.

I've been looking forward to this.

The new King Wiliam's College Quiz is on their website now.

I like to have my own copy of the quiz, and to do it with help from my friends. All help is appreciated! I'll put the quiz questions in black, the answers in blue, speculations in green. here it is. here's the quiz. )

A strange day. It was icy again when I left the house, so I took the cane. I went to the CCA to work, but most people weren't there and I only got about an hour in. Had a lovely lunch with [livejournal.com profile] gamergrrl at Restaurant Joy - delicious Japchae.

Then I did some shopping for stocking stuffers at Staples - and spent more than I intended, but all in a good cause, and I did get the printer ink I needed. And my comics at the Silver Snail, and I gave [personal profile] fairestcat moral support in starting up a subscription there. (I approve of the comics she chose, too.)

I went briefly to her place and chatted with [personal profile] commodorified while she cooked. But things went wierd; my brain was off-kilter, and first I left my cane behind in Staples, and then (worse) I left my glasses behind at [livejournal.com profile] raynedaze's place. This left me feeling even more frazzled, but a chance to sit and relax at Bridgehead over cups of London Fog - is that the right name? - settled my nerves.

My friends are wonderful people.

Evening: typing out the King William's College Quiz and pondering it, and having supper at The Peach Garden with [livejournal.com profile] maaseru and Ysolde. Though weirdnesses continued... we drove right past the restaurant on Montreal Road, even though we were looking out for it, and had to backtrack. Then the waitress brought shrimp with broccoli instead of the beef with broccoli we ordered.

Still, it ended well, with buying a Christmas present for Pim. All in all, a good day. Just strange, with frazzled interludes.

I did an online colour test: What Colour Are You?. My results:

you are lavender
#E6E6FA

Your dominant hue is blue, making you a good friend who people love and trust. You're good in social situations and want to fit in. Just be careful not to compromise who you are to make them happy.

Your saturation level is very low - you have better things to do than jump headfirst into every little project. You make sure your actions are going to really accomplish something before you start because you hate wasting energy making everyone else think you're working.

Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.
