Worked at both CCA and Computertamers. Had a lovely lunch at Nate's with Sheila. Nates was a restaurant that specialized in smoked meat sandwiches and potato verenikes and chopped liver platters; they were just around the corner from where I worked for thirty-some years and I had lunch there more often than I could guess. Breakfast, too. They had terrific breakfasts (bacon, eggs, toast, potatoes, jam) for less than $3.00. For decades. Then things changed, and I didn't work in that area any more, and now that location is a block of condos.
I don't mean to imply any cause and effect.
So now there's a new Nate's, on Merivale road. Similar menu, slightly higher prices, slightly nicer decor.

At least I'll be able to get International Big Bowl soup again.
