A restful Wednesday...
Mar. 16th, 2011 11:51 pmToday I read Magic Mourns by Ilona Andrews - a novella set in her regular setting (post-magical-apocalypse Atlanta) but not from the viewpoint of Kate Daniels - in fact, Kate is hardly in it. It's from the viewpoint of her friend Andrea, agent of the Order, and it's about fighting a Cereberus (among other threats) and Andrea's romance with Raphael. We learn more about vampires, and we meet Ghastek, which was fun. Hey, I just discovered there is a Kate Daniels wiki. I love the Net.
I started the day feeling crummy, with a sore throat and headache. Since half my acquaintances have had a cold over the past week or two, it was hardly surprising. And the trip to the bus stop was dire: it was about zero degrees and drizzling, so it was impossible to see patches of ice on the sidewalk. I walked carefully and slowly and feared I'd end up being late for work, but no, I was five minutes early.
Had lunch with

I watched The Good Wife 2x16, "Great Firewall", and absolutely loved it. Loved Eli's little private happy dance when Zack and Becca came to him with information. Loved the conniving and scheming amond the partners at the firm. Loved the contrast of Will's cynicism and Alicia's idealism.
I watched one and a half episodes of Hawaii Five-O, probably episodes 3 and 4. I was a little aghast at their treatment of those they want to interrogate - possibly it was the effect of watched the story on The Good Wife about a man tortured by Chinese authorities. It's very like The Professionals, where our heroes are a sort of special police who don't need to care about human rights. This bothers me more with Hawaii Five-O, and I'm not sure why. It doesn't make me enjoy it any less, but it does make me think.
