Buffy and Wonder Woman...

Why didn't they want him to do it?
I have somewhat mixed feelings. Despite some wonderful work I've seen from him, I've seen so much now from Joss Whedon that I absolutely hate, that I'm not sure it doesn't enhance my thoughts about the movie to have it not be his work. On the other hand, without the Whedon style, what's the point of Buffy - doesn't that make it just another vampire movie? Are they going to do it in the style of Twilight? (I've been paying no attention to this.)
I'm curious about what his version of The Avengers will be, and more personally invested in that than Buffy, but I know it will have Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and an injection of humour, so I'm not sure anything else matters. And you won't often hear me say that "an injection of humor" is a good thing in a superhero movie.
Looking at Whedon on IMDb, I'm surprised how little he has done that isn't Buffy or Firefly or Dollhouse - and I'd rather forget that one.
What's happening with the Wonder Woman movie now? A quick look online presents me with confusing and contradictory information, and not much of that. Can't say I care either way, but my goodness, I'd certainly love a Black Widow movie. Especially if Scarlett is available for it...
