For those asking re Torchwood at the Pierhead event, Piers Wenger said there were "big plans" for it that he was not able to talk about yet. (Piers Wenger is Executive Producer of Dr Who and Head of Drama at BBC Wales, Julie Gardner's replacement.)
I don't know what the Pierhead Event was, but I know where it was -
This building, familiar to us all from
Torchwood, and just the sight of it has me chortling, "I've been there! I've been there!" Nice memories.
Anyway, Piers Wenger said this thing. I wonder what, if anything, he has to do with it.
Wikipedia lists him as the Executive Producer of
Doctor Who and
Sarah Jane Adventures, but not
Torchwood, which (presumably) is going to the US and which (presumably) will have Russell T Davies as producer. Unless things are not as they appear.
One of my happy fantasies is that there would be two different
Torchwood series, one filmed in the US and one filmed in the UK. With Eve Myles starring in one and John Barrowman in the other. Or maybe with Barrowman in both; and Freema Agyeman, too. A girl can dream.
It probably means nothing. "Big plans" might just mean that they intend for
Torchwood to exist somewhere, somehow. They're hardly going to say "we're thinking small this time", and if they did, Russell T Davies would eviscerate them. No; it could be as meaningless as Barrowman's "I know nothing, and that's all I can say". And I don't see any reason to think "big plans" means anything with regard to Ianto Jones, but then, I'm one of the fans who doesn't really want Ianto Jones saved.
Me, I want James Marsters back as Captain John. I want Captain Jack to meet the Eleventh Doctor in a really, really good story. I want to see Alice Carter again in a good role and I want Gwen to show what she can really do, given the chance, after
Children of Earth. It would be greedy to ask for Myfanwy back too, wouldn't it?
Mostly I just want an announcement that
Torchwood is coming back, and soon.
