From [livejournal.com profile] chicleeblair on the Doctor Who LJ community: a meme. And I'm happy to answer anything with regard to these shows just for the chance to think and talk about them. Besides, there may be people here who don't already know everything about me.

Three odd disasters happened today. Not catastrophic, just... odd.

The first involved the lamp by my computer desk. It was on my bookcase. I was talking on the phone sitting at my computer desk, but not using the computer. The lamp fell on my head and broke. It didn't break badly - in fact, I'm using it now, though it could use a little glue and duct tape. But it landed on my head. I was somewhat offended.

Okay, no real harm done.

A while later, [livejournal.com profile] maaseru came down for supper and to watch a movie. I was in the kitchen. She put a glass of water on my table - one of those IKEA desk-stands with a central leg on three supports. The table promptly fell over, breaking the sugar bowl full of sugar that was on the table, and the glass, which had been full of water. This was about the time [livejournal.com profile] explodedteabag walked in. She was helping to mop up the syrupy mess on my floor while I tried to safely dispose of the broken glass. I walked into my kitchen to get something to put the glass into, and the new large jar which was drying on my counter slipped and fell and broke into tiny shards. And I'd just bought it yesteday. At IKEA. For $5. I was... unhappy.

When then all turned around three times and declared that nothing else was allowed to happen this evening. We cleaned up the floor, disposed of the extra dose of broken glass, ate supper and enjoyed the movie.

Nothing more is allowed to happen tonight.

Watched Unleashed this evening, with Jet Li, Morgan Freeman, and Kerry Condon. I've always liked Jet Li; he isn't Bruce Lee, but who it? He's the next best thing. This was a melodramatic story about how gangster/extortionist Bob Hoskins kept Danny imprisoned to use him as a martial arts killer; and how Danny escaped into a better world with a blind man and a magician, and then had to fight "Uncle Bart" to keep from being forced to kill again.

It had more story to it than I'd expected: picture a movie that's the bastard child of Walt Disney and Mad Max.

And Jet Li is terrific.
