I consider myself both an optimist and a realist. Why not? Optimism is not unrealistic, if one has any kind of a grasp of reality - and I think I do. Optimism give a person an edge. As survival skills go, it's one of the best. Optimists succeed.

Depression once sapped me of the ability to be optimistic, and I hated that.
