At some point today I wrote out my 'to do' list carefully and neatly in my little notebook that I always keep to hand. Just thinking about the enormity of the list must have exhausted me, because when I got home, instead of doing any of it, I fell onto my bed (still wearing my shoes and iPod) and slept for a full hour.

When I woke up, I made some fake Kraft Dinner ("fake" because it was no-name brand, not Kraft) and took a bowl up to [livejournal.com profile] maaseru to chat for a bit. When [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi joined us, we fell to talking about Terry Pratchett, as we often do, since we are both listening to his books. She's a few books ahead of me. I'm ... somewhere near the beginning of Jingo. There is a passage I loved, when Vimes meets the foreign prince:
The Klatchian had intelligent eyes. Disconcertingly intelligent. You looked into them and several layers of person looked back.
After a nice relaxing visit with [livejournal.com profile] maaseru, I got to work on some of my list. Cleaned the fridge. I hate that job. Then got to work in the bedroom.... See, when I was looking under furniture in search of my remote (still missing), I found a scary amount of dust. Seems a good time to move shelving, sort what's on the shelves, and get rid of the dust. It was rather fun. The shelves I attacked had boxes of old slash fanzines; I can't bear to get rid of any of them, and many have my stories in them. Also old photographs, not just of me from years ago, but of my childhood and my mother's childhood. I look so much like my aunt it's spooky.

I ended up with two shelves sorted, cleaned, and now in good shape. There's lots still to do, but it's a start.

We had shocking news at work: Susan, whom I've worked with for decades - she's in charge of costumes - had a heart attack over the weekend and is in the hospital waiting for surgery now. She's only a little older than I am, in great shape, goes to the gym several times a week, eats much better than I do.

Funny thing on the bus this morning. A man got on, looked normal enough, and then immediately proceeded to take off his trousers. It wasn't indecent - turns out he was wearing trousers under his trousers. I think the problem was that his bus pass was tucked in the pocket of the bottom pair. Whatever it was, he was still undressing or dressing when I got off the bus a few stops later.

And the other day, I saw something delightful. An attractive young woman was running - there are lots of runners in this city, that's not unusual, the city's full of them. In fact, some people even come from foreign parts to run here. (With a grin and a salute to [livejournal.com profile] meri_oddities!) So I saw this woman running on Rideau Street, wearing shorts and T-shirt - and her T-shirt design was this:
