I talked about the glowing bracelets [livejournal.com profile] maaboroshi made for me a few days ago.

They are still sitting on the bookshelf by my bed, still glowing.

I love it. Why do I get such a kick out of this?

In a continuing attempt to fight writer's block, I'm taking a meme from [livejournal.com profile] joonscribble, who wrote:
Tell me the title of a story I haven't written, details optional, and I'll give you a summary AND I will write it for you! Length will depend on how inspired I get.

Feel free to be as specific to characters or fandoms as you wish and to suggest a few. However, given my history, I'll probably just pick one of the suggestions to write the actual fic. Still, you NEVER know. More might happen. It's crazy! It could happen!

Just a few minutes ago Tom walked into the office, looked at the red Converse I'm wearing - matching my red top over a white t-shirt - and said, "I like your shoes today. You know Cirque du Soleil is coming to town?"

Aaah, fantasties of running away and joining the circus. Me hanging from a wire, upside down, way above the crowd....

Well, I am looking for a job.

Have a wonderful birthday! May your heart be bright and your fandoms be exciting.

I got this link today on one of my mailing list: trying to list the 100 most common words in English in five minutes. I got 45, which doesn't sound like much, but the exercise was fun.

fajrdrako: ([Doctor Who] - Nine)

[livejournal.com profile] doctorwho today posts an item from Entertainment Weekly about Doctor Who, basically saying how good it is. With which I can only agree. (It's a list of the 25 SF best SF shows.) But what I liked most was this part:
THE BEST BIT Check out the first season of the newest incarnation, featuring Heroes' Christopher Eccleston as the ninth Doctor (the best ever — apologies to Tom Baker) and the piercing, poignant wit of writer Russell T. Davies.
David Tennant is so popular I sometimes fear that Christopher Eccleston is forgotten; and I love Eccleston so much in the role.

Though I must say that the phrase "Heroes' Christopher Eccleston" made me smile.

Jones, Ianto Jones.

I have such unclear feelings about Ianto... Such enjoyment of his role. I love looking at him, thinking about him, pondering why his love affair with Captain Jack does and does not delight me, and exploring it in fic.

At least a part of me loves Ianto, and that's for two reasons. Reason #1: eyeroll. Reason #2: stopwatch. 'Nuff said.

It's his birthday; from "Fragments" we know he was born August 19, 1983, which makes him - on the face of it - 25. But Torchwood is set a year or so in the future, so we might say he's turning 26. Or not. Makes my head hurt.

[livejournal.com profile] lucy_locket put Ianto picspam on her LJ to commemorate Ianto's birthday. A few observances:
  • My favourite picture of Ianto.
  • I wish he dressed like this more often. Or this. I love seeing him in clothing other than suits.
  • No pictures here from my favourite Ianto episode, "Meat", with that gorgeous coat. (Or maybe my favourite Ianto episode is "Cyberwoman", or "Adam". See? All this confusion in my head.) Ianto was at his best in "Meat": brave and clever and trying to save Jack.
  • I wouldn't mind more of this.
  • Or this.

Whatever my thoughts, it's clear that Ianto's love makes Jack happy, and that can only be good.

Happy birthday, Ianto Jones, and thank you.

I am usually careful about spoilers, because I love surprises, and want to foster every possible surprise that is possible in whatever is coming up.

On the other hand, I'm curious. But curiosity is no match for my love of suspense.

So why do I find myself, with Torchwood series 3, feeling more paranoid about spoilers than usual? Desperate not to hear any, now that news is leaking out from the filming?

Perhaps because it's so far away. If I'm spoiled, I'm going to be spoiled for a very long time.

Perhaps it's because my love of Torchwood is at a high ebb, making it all the more important to me to approach the show in the way I love best. The more I care about a show, the less I want to know what's coming up. Indifference to spoilers is often a sign that my interest in something is waning.

In any case... I can hardly wait for Torchwood series 3. Or for the radio show, coming up next.

And keeps me away from those spoilers.
