The Sarah Connor Chronicles...
Sep. 4th, 2007 09:44 amI watched The Sarah Connor Chronicles pilot over the weekend and thought it was terrific. Certainly looks worth watching when it starts on TV. Keep in mind that I was a big fan of Terminator 2 (which I saw before Terminator 1) and the storyline picks up the plotline from the end of T2. I never saw T3, so I don't know how it fits in.
Anyway, I was impressed.
Now, it is possible that the storyline will not develop - if it's going to be "the heroes get chased by a futuristic robot till they destroy it" every week, that will be pretty dull. But the pilot was well-written enough that I don't think that's what will happen.
Summer Glau played Cameron, the robotkiller who comes to defend John Connor from the robots. I'm not sure of the rationale of a machine taking the human side in the war between humans and machines, but if Schwartzenegger can do it, so can River. Er, Cameron. She was scary - scariest when she appeared to be a normal high school girl. (Shudder.)
I thought I'd never seen Lena Headey before, and though she doesn't look at all like Linda Hamilton, I thought she had the right manner and body language - both as the 'innocent' waitress and as the warrior. It surprised me to realize she was Queen Gorgo in "300". I certainly didn't recognize her.
Thomas Dekker, I recognized immediately as Zach in Heroes, and this probably explains why Zach isn't hanging out with Claire any more. He also managed to resembe Edward Furlong in the same sort of way Headey manages to resemble Linda Hamilton, by body language rather than looks.
