Then we watched Sharpe's Challenge, and the assorted extras on the DVD. It was fun to see Toby Stephens as the villain, Dodd, when I'd so recently seen him as one of my most-loved heroes, Mr. Rochester in Jane Eyre. I had a bet with

We were all amused to see a character in the show slashing Sharpe and Harper in the dialogue. And rightly, too.
I love the costuming and the colour and the heroism and the fun of Sharpe, and of course I love Sean Bean, but I wish those movies weren't so predictable and full of cliches, every one of them.
I guess it just means that Bernard Cornwall is not C. S. Forester, and I'm sure he'd be the first to agree.
