I got this from one of my mailing lists today: What SF crew do you belong in/on?" This time, I got the right answer! You can't take the sky from me... ) Must be because I answered every quiz question I could in true anarchist fashion. And it's so very much the right answer: freedom is everything. Most of the options (Stargate, Babylon 5, Star Trek, etc.) are too militaristic and/or too conformist, or both. X-Files is neither, but can you see me in a suit doing the FBI thing? I don't think so! And much as I'd like to live in the wake of Starbuck or Lee Adama, no, it's the life on Serenity that would really appeal.

From another mailing list: Which Oxford Library are you?

A beautiful place, but I don't remember which library is which.... )

I have a fondness for Oxford. Maybe because Percy Bysshe Shelley went there. So why not have a corresponding fondness for Cambridge, because Lord Byron went there? Well... if it's a choice, Shelley comes first. Or Maybe it's because I read Towers in the Mist by Elizabeth Goudge at an impressionable age. Maybe it's John Thaw as Inspector Morse. Or maybe it's because I visited Oxford before I ever saw Cambridge... beautiful though Cambridge is.

At heart, I'm an Oxford girl, though I've never as much as taken a class there. It has to do with my romantic imagination.

The quiz had stuff I never heard of. What is pashmina? What are iPod socks? It's time to do some research on the matter. I won't worry about "oligonucleotides".
