Lost in La Mancha...

I watched Lost in La Mancha tonight - the movie about the movie that never got made. Terry Gilliam was making a lavish movie version of Don Quixote, with Jean Rochefort and Johnny Depp, but fate was against it - and what we are left with is a documentary about the making of a movie that never got made. Things went disastrously wrong: a flood wiped out the setting and half the equipment, Jean Rochefort became ill and unable to work, there was some problem with the insurance and therefore with the money -

The movie was simply doomed.

I have no craving to see another Don Quixote movie, since frankly I'm not too fond of the original, but my goodness Johnny Depp looked fine in it - and so professional on the set, too.

Seems tragic that so much money and talent and creativity was spent on something that just didn't happen. A waste.
