A bright sunny day. First, I went to get my hair cut. Then a few errands downtown. Then... well, it's Free Comic Book Day, and the comic book shops are on the way home from downtown if I walk along Bank St., so I did. The Comic Book Shoppe was having a sale, 40% off back issues, and they had

Got this from [livejournal.com profile] lexalot who got it from [livejournal.com profile] serrico: Name ten cancelled shows you love. Extra credit for those killed before their time. Double extra credit for shows with major queer text/subtext.

Now, most shows get cancelled sooner or later, so I'm not including things that just aren't around any more like Queer as Folk (Brit. ed.) or The Professionals. And I can't name ten because I've never watched that much television. But there are series I loved that disappeared far, far too early:

  1. Century City (with Ian Gruffudd)

  2. Firefly (with Nathan Fillion)

  3. Roar (with Heath Ledger)

  4. Stingray (with Nick Mancuso)

I think there should be a listing, too, of series that went on beyond their time, like X-Files.

Someone on one of my mailing lists sent me this.

The Hokey-Pokey, by Wm Shakespeare

"O proud left foot, that ventures quick within
Then soon upon a backward journey lithe.
Anon, once more the gesture, then begin:
Command sinistral pedestal to writhe.
Commence thou then the fervid Hokey-Poke,
A mad gyration, hips in wanton swirl.
To spin! A wilde release from Heaven's yoke.
Blessed dervish! Surely canst go, girl.
The Hoke, the poke -- o banish now thy doubt
Verily, I say, 'tis what it's all about."
