A huge 'happy birthday' today to [livejournal.com profile] musexmoirai:

One of the cleverest writers I know - may your day be wonderful and your year be splendid, your words flow like torrents and your ideas like floodwaters. May your dreams come true - but not all of them, so you have more to look forward to in future!

Have a great day...

One day in 1963 I bought a brand new comic called X-Men #1 and I fell in love. I already loved comics. I already loved Marvel comics. But I will never forget the special thrill of discovering the X-Men. I read that comic over and over.

A lot has changed since then and I am still buying X-Men )

There were no new questions for the Friday Five this week, so I stole questions from a year ago:

1. If you had the chance to meet someone you've never met, from the past or present, who would it be?

Percy Bysshe Shelley. Or maybe William Shakespeare. Or Henry II Plantagenet.

2. If you had to live in a different century, past or future, which would it be?

The 12th century.

3. If you had to move anywhere else on Earth, where would it be?

An island off the coast of England or Scotland. Jersey? The Scillies? Orkney? Or maybe an Italian island, like Torcello. Or Tuscany.

4. If you had to be a fictional character, who would it be?

Kate Somerville.

5. If you had to live with having someone else's face as your own for the rest of your life, whose would it be?

Cheryl Tiegs.

Religious 5
1. What, if any, episodes of your fandom celebrate a specific religious holiday?

None, though I suppose some of the characters would celebrate Christmas. (In fanfic, at least. I like Christmas fanfic.)

2. If you have knowledge/experience with non-Judeo/Christian religions, does your fandom realistically depict non-Judeo/Christian religions?
3. Which of your fandom’s characters profess a religion?

Um... the only one I can think of is Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler) in X-Men, who is Catholic and almost became a priest.

4. Do your fandom’s characters act in ways that seem at odds with their professed religions?
5. What fanfic deals well with the characters' religions?

These questions make me reflect that on the whole the shows I liked don't deal with religion, and I am glad they don't deal with religion, and I don't want to see them deal with religion. Judeo-Christian or otherwise. Canon or fic. I like ethical and moral issues being raised, but not religious ones.
