I was playing around at Jigzone and discovered that we can upload on our own pictures.

Oooh, said I, and promptly put in a picture of me at the Ring of Brodgar, here.

What fun. I think I'm going to enjoy playing with this. (A puzzle version of Captain Jack Sparrow. A puzzle version of Aragorn son of Arathorn. I've already done Clex puzzles, of course, including the wonderful ones that [livejournal.com profile] goss has on her site.)

I've loved jigsaw puzzles since I was a kid, and used to work on them with my father in his study in the evenings: 200-piece puzzles of dogs and kittens and castles and kids, while my father smoked his pipe and we talked about things. He and I got along very well in those days.

The joy of jigsaw puzzles has never left me, though I don't often do them these days. When I do them, I find them conducive to creative thought.

But time-consuming.

About six weeks ago, [livejournal.com profile] isagel and I had a conversation about T.S. Eliot, and challenged each other to write a Clex story inspired by something written by Eliot. We set a deadline of July 31. [livejournal.com profile] isagel wrote hers long ago; it was brilliant. It was called Not less than everything, from the wonderful lines at the end of Eliot's Four Quartets:

    A condition of complete simplicity
    (Costing not less than everything)
And all shall be well and
All manner of thing shall be well

I was slower, but I take deadlines seriously, and it isn't yet midnight of July 31, and here I am with a story. This is unbetaed, unedited, and as close to stream-of-consciousness as I ever get. My quote is also from Four Quartets, and only one page earlier.

Consumed by Fire

I

Clark had nightmares. He woke, trembling in the dark, and found Lex's arms around him, comforting him, while Lex's gentle voice talked him back to reality.

It was not the first time.

I am so happy! At [livejournal.com profile] arrrr, [livejournal.com profile] fireflyxstare posted the entire script for Pirates of the Caribbean.

I don't have time to read it right now but I'm so happy to have it available!

This is going to help story-writing immensely - at least until I have the DVD.
